Distribution Services
Most self-publishing programs offer some distribution as part of their package. Each approaches distribution in a different manner. Despite inflated claims of availability in 25,000 retail outlets, it is important to remember that virtually all of those retail outlets are online and distribution rarely includes any useful distribution to brick-and-mortar stores.
Again, the key to successful publishing is that the publishing program fit the book being published. In many cases, the distribution offered by self-publishing programs is sufficient. In some cases it may even be perfect. However, in some cases it may be woefully inadequate. In other cases, it may be more than you need - in which case you end up paying substantial set-up fees for a distribution channel that you don't even need.
City Desk has access to a network of sales reps, distributors, and small publishers, all of which could provide alternative distribution channels for a self-published author. Additionally, City Desk is well versed in dealing with Amazon.com and BN.com and can set up you up to sell directly to these accounts - if that is what makes the most sense for the book.
